CAPE FEAR MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS PERFORM WELL IN STATE INVESTMENT COMPETITION!
Twenty teams of 3-4 students from our school competed against 744 other teams from across the state. These teams included 594 high schools teams and 150 middle school teams in a 13 week long competition.
The teams competed in an online simulation of the global capital markets that engages students in the world of economics, investing and personal finance. These capital markets included understanding and using different markets, tools and many other aspects of finance.
Abbi Pickett and Caroline Hall ranked number 1 out of all middle school teams and number 4 for all teams. Lacey Patterson, Landon Marx and Selvin Henriquez ranked number 2 for all middle school teams and number 6 out of 744 teams in the state. Sienna Bonilla Hernandez, Jamari Nixon-Brewster and Annyluz Romero Guadarrama ranked number 5 out of all middle schools and number 16 in the state.
All our students have a much better understanding of global markets and the world of finance including: stocks, mutual funds and bonds. They better understand personal finance and how different factors influence our economy.
A big thank you to Mr. Simmons and Mr. Bates for their continued support and to the SIFMA Foundation for putting on this event. Cape Fear Middle School Has a team set to compete Nationally starting in January.
