CFMS staff had a sweet way to welcome spring! Everyone had the chance to guess how many jelly beans were in the jar — and the closest guesser walked away with a great prize!
🎉 Congratulations to Mrs. Elmore! There were 268 jelly beans in the jar, and she guessed 264 — only 4 away! What an incredible guess! 🎯

Grizzly Drone Team Wraps Up the Season Strong! 🚁✨
This past Saturday, our Grizzly Drone team and their families rose and shined early to head to Sandhills Community College for the final local competition of the season! 🌅 While we didn't bring home any trophies this time around, we couldn't be more proud of how our students represented and finished out the season. 💪
A huge shoutout to Gabby Gold for scoring our highest Piloting Skills Score of the entire season! 🏆⭐ That is a massive achievement and a sign of just how far this team has come!

This past Friday, our 7th and 8th grade students had an incredible real-world learning experience when a pilot from the Pender County Sheriff's Department Drone Team visited our school! 👮♂️✨
He shared how drones are actively used by the department and wowed our students with a live flight demonstration right before their eyes! 🎯 Watching technology in action sparked excitement and curiosity about the many ways STEM careers show up in the real world. 🌍💡
Our students left inspired — and we couldn't be more grateful! 🙌

Cape Fear Middle counselors, Ms. Bowman and Ms. Todd, introduced students to NCcareers 💻, a "K to Gray" platform developed to help NC residents find careers, educational opportunities, and eventually employment 💼.
Students made choices about the kinds of activities that interest them and then researched matching occupations 🔍📚. Then they made "mini-posters" to connect what they learned to potential futures .

This week in Mr. Odom's class, our 7th & 8th graders tackled their BIGGEST challenge yet — programming their drones to navigate through 3 obstacles and nail the perfect landing in the designated zone! ✈️🎯 After conquering that, they leveled up to mastering manual flight controls!
Meanwhile, our 6th graders are officially ROBOT BUILDERS 🦾 — they've completed their very first robot and are gearing up to modify it for a soccer showdown ⚽ AND a tug of war battle 💪 Stay tuned... it's about to get competitive!
