URGENT: Parents, if your child's school transportation status changed this summer and your child needs to ride a bus, you will need to complete the BOY application by Monday, August 10th in order for your child to ride the bus when school starts.
📚 The countdown is on for our students on our traditional calendar to return to school on Monday, August 24!
As we prepare for the 2026–27 school year, families are asked to complete their student’s Beginning of Year Application. This update is not required for newly enrolled students.
This application has to be completed for students to receive their Chromebook. We would like this application completed before school starts, so our students can get off to a successful start on August 24th.
Our goal is to be the first school to achieve 100% Beginning of Year Applications.

Dear CFMS Families and Staff,
As required by Session Law 2023-128 (Protecting Our Students Act), all North Carolina public school units must provide students in grades 6-12 with specific information related to child abuse and neglect within the first five days of school.
This law mandates the delivery of age-appropriate materials-including a video-developed by the Center for Safer Schools (CFSS). These materials aim to educate students on:
Recognizing signs of abuse and neglect (including sexual abuse),
Knowing how and where to report concerns, and
Understanding that reporting is confidential, as permitted by law.
Pender County Schools will show the required videos at the beginning of the school year, as mandated. Additional resources such as posters and student documents will also be distributed and displayed in accordance with the law.
To learn more about the requirements or preview the materials, you can visit - https://bit.ly/3HbOqAq
To opt your student out of viewing the videos, Pender County Schools asks that you sign and return this letter, https://bit.ly/4wKWxbZ. In an effort to reach everyone, the letter will also be sent home on the first day of school, and should be returned NO LATER than Thursday, August 27th. Only one letter needs to be signed and returned.
We encourage you to view the videos in an effort to make an informed decision:

We appreciate your support in helping us ensure all students feel informed, supported, and safe as they begin the new school year.
Sincerely,
Bobby Simmons
