In Mr. Altergott's "Exploring Careers and Employment" class at Cape Fear Middle School, students used VR headsets to immerse themselves in various careers. They performed tasks such as welding in a warehouse and assisting in a knee replacement surgery, all from the safety of the classroom. This innovative approach offers hands-on career exploration.

CFMS 8th Grade Decades Day
Take a trip to the past with the 8th graders at CFMS! For nine weeks each student researched different decades, using primary and secondary sources, and created projects and essays, writing in an argumentative essay style, to convince their Social Studies and Language Arts teachers that their decade of choice was the best. On October 20th each 8th grader participated in Decades Day. Decades Day is a day of rotating stations that test students' knowledge on timeline events, sources used in research, music of different genres, and showing off their first quarter projects to their peers. It was a totally awesome experience and one that will go down in the 2023-2024 school year’s history!
