In music we talk about pitch and volume with sound waves??? Why YES we do!! Music is all around us everyday! Check out this clip from Ms. Hollifield's 3rd grade class. https://youtu.be/SVEIKEdlHv4 Maybe it is just loud noise or a way to learn about music and STEAM. Music and the visual arts stimulate the brain, and with its varied sounds and lyrics, students are exposed to a large amount of vocabulary in a short amount of time. This Fine Arts Month, take a moment to find a creative outlet to express yourself.

Carter Milam loves to read (especially comic books) and quotes Ghandi. Yeah, Ghandi! "He has a positive attitude, acts responsibly, works together, and shows respect." the 5th grader from Cape Fear Elementary is the latest Star News student of the week https://bit.ly/3tJMLaI

Happy Flashback Friday! The Fine Arts enable us to have experiences we can have from no other source and through those experiences we discover the range of variety of what we are capable of feeling. Ms. Sutton's 2nd grade class learned about some North Carolina history and added it to a song. Check out her class singing the 12 Days of Christmas, North Carolina Edition. https://youtu.be/JFcvM08YDOI #WeLoveMsSutton

4th grade artists are learning about Harlem Renaissance artist Romare Bearden. They are creating Jazz collages. They painted using color schemes and then drew and glued images of Jazz instruments on top. Next, they will be adding music notes and collaging shapes with magazines. The Arts teach children that problems can have more than one solution, and that questions can have more than one right answer.

Look at some of our cubs in music class. A kindergarten class is learning rhythms on the boomwhackers! This fifth grade class even learned about music around the world with a streamer dance. The fine arts are an essential part of everyone's education. Be on the lookout for more posts about Fine Arts Month!
