This week we’re recognizing Ms. Madison Catalano, EC Teacher (Grades 6–8) at Topsail Middle School.
As a new teacher, Ms. Catalano has already made a strong impression. She works hard to support her students and shows that she truly cares about their success. She plans engaging lessons, encourages students throughout the day, and brings a positive, steady attitude into the classroom.
Ms. Catalano is also a great coworker. She communicates well, includes others in the work, and is always willing to offer encouragement and support. Her approach helps create a team environment where people feel connected and supported.

What an unforgettable day for Mrs. Vickers' 5th grade homeroom! They dominated the Malcolm Mitchell Read Bowl with an astounding 16,631 minutes. This achievement highlights effective student engagement, classroom culture, and literacy-focused leadership. We were honored to welcome former Baltimore Ravens quarterback Brad Roach, who presented awards and connected with our top readers — a meaningful experience that reinforces the value of reading and mentorship.
Day 2 of the 6th grade field trip = a huge success!
Feeling the love at TMS today! 💖 During Bus Appreciation Week, our incredible bus drivers started their morning with a special breakfast to say thank you for keeping our students safe every day. 🚍 Teachers also enjoyed a cozy coffee & hot chocolate bar — smiles all around! Mrs. Losey's 7th grade students have been learning about the different types of protists. Students made 3D models of protists and participated in an art show gallery walk, giving feedback to other students.

Because of the expected winter weather across our area this weekend, Pender County Schools will have a “snow day” on Monday, February 2nd.
A decision regarding Tuesday’s schedule will be announced at a later date to allow us to check on facilities and travel conditions. Teachers will prepare their students for the possibility of a remote learning day, we ask that families be prepared as well. Announcements will be made using our normal channels.
Thank you for your flexibility and understanding. Be safe, have fun, and stay warm!

Debido al clima invernal esperado en nuestra área este fin de semana, las Escuelas del Condado de Pender tendrán un “día de nieve” el lunes 2 de febrero.
La decisión sobre el horario del martes se anunciará en una fecha posterior para permitirnos revisar las instalaciones y las condiciones de viaje. Los maestros prepararán a sus estudiantes para la posibilidad de un día de aprendizaje remoto, y pedimos que las familias también estén preparadas. Our 7th graders are engaged and informed thanks to the D.A.R.E. program. These kinds of programs play a huge role in preparing our children to make smart, healthy decisions.
