Our 5th grade students at TMS had an incredible opportunity to visit the Fort Fisher State Historic Site! Students explored the museum, participated in a guided tour, and experienced engaging reenactments that brought history to life. This hands-on experience was perfectly connected to our 5th grade Social Studies curriculum and helped deepen students’ understanding of our nation’s past.

Congratulations to the 8th grade band! They traveled to Ashley HS this week for the annual state Music Performance Adjudication. They came back with the highest scores they've had since 2016, with an overall rating of "Excellent" and a "Superior" rating in sight reading. Please congratulate these students on their great performance. And yes, don't be alarmed if you see Mr. Norem's hair a different color in the next few weeks.

Attention Families- All 8th grade yearbook ads must be purchased and completed by Wednesday, March 25th! All yearbook sales will end on Monday, March 30th. That is the absolute last day to order. There will be NO EXTRA YEARBOOKS SOLD.
Seventh grade students at Topsail Middle School recently took an exciting step in their career development journey by using NCcareers.org to connect their personal interests to potential high school electives and future careers. This interactive platform allows students to explore careers, identify their strengths, and learn about the education and training needed for various pathways .
Led by our Middle School Career Development Coordinator and school counselors, Ms. Wood and Mr. Einspahr, students brainstormed career possibilities and began making meaningful connections between their interests and future opportunities.
A special thank you to our middle school science teachers for hosting and supporting this experience. This activity represents another important step in each student’s North Carolina Career Development Plan, helping them build a strong foundation for future success.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Jersey Mike’s is hosting its annual Month of Giving this March in support of Special Olympics North Carolina and the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games in Minnesota. All month long, you can visit participating Jersey Mike’s locations to show your support, and on Wednesday, March 25, 100% of sales will be donated directly to Special Olympics. This is a great way for TMS families to enjoy a meal out while helping an amazing cause!

Mrs. Schlegel’s 6th & 7th grade child development students visited TAES kindergarten and created magical learning moments—reading, games, and hands-on practice that built skills and confidence. It was heartwarming to watch older students mentor and younger students shine.

Ms. Burgess and Mrs. Dinkins' classes enjoyed a day of horseback riding at Russell's Reach. The students gained confidence, teamwork, and a memorable real-world experience. What an unforgettable day for them!

7th grade students had a hands-on experience learning about the structures of the bone. Special thanks to Butcher and Baker of Hampstead for their donation of a cross section of a bone. Students were equally fascinated and disgusted being able to learn more about the bone with this experience
Celebrate with us! Huge congratulations to Topsail Middle’s Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Crate, and our Beginning Teacher of the Year, Mr. B. Your hard work, heart, and classroom dedication inspire us all. So proud of you both. Well deserved!
Our 6th graders closed the Solar System unit with an awesome Apollo Program presentation by high schooler Ethan Houston. Throughout the unit, students practiced strong research habits—comparing and cross-checking facts across Britannica entries, eBooks, and physical books to confirm facts and deepen understanding. Proud of their curiosity and critical thinking!
