We're happy to share with you that Charles H. from Mrs. Morgan's 3rd grade class is our Sea Turtle of the Week for the week of March 17-21. Charles, your school is proud of you. 💙🐢💚

Mrs. Curry’s flexible reading group are becoming fluent readers. Great work!

Happy first day of spring from Mrs. Montaruli's Kindergarten class! 🌸

Ms. Rickard's 5th graders just finished up their genetics and heredity unit and wanted to see the genes that make up all of our genetic traits. To see that, the class extracted the DNA from strawberries in a science lab today. 🍓🔎🧬

Second grade is half way through their book match-ups! The Book With No Pictures took down Extra Yarn. Dragons Love Tacos swept Chez Bob. Interrupting Chicken dominated Unicorns Are The Worst. And After The Fall clobbered Amazing Grace! What will the second half hold for the rest of the books?!? 📚

Thank you to Nurse Anita & PCHD Nurse Stephanie Todd for talking to our 4th graders today about substance abuse prevention. These lovely ladies are helping our students to be aware about what is safe and what is not.

Help ‼️ Mrs. Faircloth lost the owners manual. 📖 3rd and 4th grade students are learning about coding and self driving cars in STEAM. This week they are creating their own owners manual for their mini self driving car Indi. They are having fun learning what know output Indi preforms when they input different colors. 🚗🟩🟨🟦

Our students are the cutest clovers in the patch. 🍀

Mrs. Pleasant's PreK students worked on a science experiment with skittles and water today. They created a pattern with the skittles and then made predictions on what would happen if they added warm water to the plate. Great work, scientists!

Mrs. Mercer's 2nd grade students are going through the weekly sales ads, pretending they are planning a trip to the grocery store to buy food for themselves because in their last Wit and Wisdom unit they will be learning about how to make good choices when picking foods and how foods nourish our bodies. 🥗🍓

Over the past week, 3rd grade classes took a field trip to Everett Creek (part of the Coastal Land Trust which has saved over 90,000 acres of land in our area). They walked a 2 mile trail and learned about the importance and history of the Long Leaf Pine forests, and also discovered evidence of coyote and deer. It was a great adventure!

✨ Jill Robertson -“We are so appreciative of Ms. Harper. Her compassion, dedication and unwavering support make such a positive impact on our school community. Whether she is offering a listening ear, providing resources or advocating for those in need, her kindness and hard work does not go unnoticed. NTE is thankful for the positive impact she makes every day!”
🎉 Fun Facts: She’s a big UNC-Chapel Hill fan, an iced coffee lover, and has a beagle-boxer mix named Milo who is about to turn 3!
Join us in thanking Ms. Harper and all our amazing school social workers for their dedication! 💙👏

Mrs. Gray's class celebrated the end of Module 3 in Wit and Wisdom with an agamograph. Students used their knowledge of the American Revolutionary War to represent why it is important to understand all sides of a story.

We're happy to share with you that Turner F. from Mrs. Seferyn's 4th grade class is our Sea Turtle of the Week for the week of March 10-14. Turner, your school is proud of you. 💙🐢💚

🎶 Pender County Schools Music Departments Shine! 🎶
Last night, students from SCMS, BMS, and HTHS took to the stage for a Pre-MPA concert, where they performed for judges to receive valuable feedback ahead of the official Music Performance Adjudication (MPA) this week at Ashley High School. This event is an important opportunity for our student musicians to receive constructive comments that will help them perfect their performances for Thursday and Friday’s MPA events.
Best of luck to all our PCS schools participating this week, including THS and TMS, who will be performing at MPA as well!
