Students in Dr. Martin’s 3rd grade class kicked off their Holidays Around the Word Unit. Their first stop was New York City! Students got their passport, ticket, and suitcase and boarded the flight! Their learning goal was to learn about the holiday celebrations in America; Kwanzaa was the focal point of the lesson. While in NYC, they stopped and watched the Macy’s Day Parade and saw the floats & balloons that they made before Thanksgiving break.

Meet the Sea Turtles Series: Up next we have Mrs. Wood, our fabulous speech pathologist. 💚🐢💙

First grade is ready for Wit & Wisdom Module 2, Creature Features. They went on a scavenger hunt to discover the new topic and explored the different books on their chromebooks.

We have a Holiday Spirit Day coming up this Friday!

Mark your calendars! 📅 In December we'll have Festive Fridays every Friday during the month of December leading up to winter break as well as spirit days on the short week, Dec 18-20. 'Tis the season to be jolly!

Pre-K had a great day today walking the elementary hallways disguised as turkeys. Their classroom turkeys ran away so they were on a scavenger hunt around the school to find them with a few of their parents. 🦃

We're thankful for all of our students, teachers & families!

Ms. Natalie Tidler, an elementary education major at UNCW, is completing her Fall internship at Surf City Elementary. She has been observing, assisting, and participating in Dr. Martin and Ms. Full’s classrooms this semester. This past week, she taught her first lesson in Dr. Martin’s classroom on how to protect endangered species! She has done an amazing job and we cannot wait to see all the great things she will do for children.
