Happy Friday! We experienced a brief period of time this morning with plumbing issues on our campus. Pender County Maintenance were quick to respond and our custodial staff were working along side of them to fix our issues. Students did have the gym bathrooms available for use while the repairs to the system were being made.
We had district support and the problems were completely resolved. Everything was operating back to normal within a short amount of time. Thank you to the custodians, plumbers and maintenance for your help this morning!

Our Military Ball for our Military students and parents is tomorrow night! I am making a plea for donations of cookies. Our plan for cookies fell through, the place we ordered from canceled the order today because they were unable to fulfill the order. Asking for STORE BOUGHT Choco chip, M&M, Sugar and Gluten free. If possible could you drop them off to the elementary office any time during the Student showcase (5-7pm) or tomorrow by 2pm, that would be greatly appreciated!
Who keeps our school buzzing with kindness and care? Our incredible volunteers! 🌟 During Volunteer Appreciation Week, we want to say a HUGE thank you for every hour you give, every classroom you brighten, and every event you help run. Your dedication makes our school community stronger and happier. 🙏

📚🌟 Student Showcase 🌟📚 We hope to see everyone at school this Thursday evening from 5-7pm for our Student Showcase Night.

Ms. Withers' Pre-K class completed designing houses that they placed in the container they used to plant grass seed. Her class discussed what it takes to make something grow and can't wait to watch their lawns grow so that they can cut them over the next few weeks. 🌱

Thanks to the THS lacrosse team for helping out by opening car doors and welcoming the kids to school in our morning car line. 🥍🏴☠️
Dear Surf City Elementary Families,
At approximately 10:55 a.m. today, the fire alarm sounded on the campuses of Surf City Elementary School and Surf City Middle School. In accordance with our safety procedures, students and staff immediately evacuated the buildings while the situation was assessed.
The Surf City Fire Department responded and conducted a thorough check of both campuses. The buildings have been cleared by the fire department, and students and staff have safely returned inside. Learning has resumed in both buildings.
We appreciate the quick response of our local first responders and the cooperation of our students and staff, who followed safety procedures exactly as expected.
Thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely, Surf City School Administration

Who’s bringing fresh energy to our classrooms? Our amazing UNCW teacher interns! 🌟📚 We’re so thankful they’re learning alongside our teachers and students, trying new lessons, and inspiring curiosity every day. Ms. Wilson's UNCW intern, Ms. Lane, created and presented a great lesson on the circulatory system that included guided notes and a hands-on activity making a model heart with clay. 🫀
