Will you be the Cat in the Hat?
A silly Thing 1 or Thing 2?
A Who down from Whoville?
Or just a Wacky You?

It's "Read Across America" Week! We're going to celebrate our love of reading all week with special school spirit themes. Here's the breakdown:
Monday, March 2nd: Celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday by dressing like a Dr. Seuss character!
Tuesday, March 3rd: No School! Choose a book of your choice and read while you are home. Remember to log your minutes: RPE Million Minute Reading Challenge
Wednesday, March 4th: "Hat's Off to Reading!" - Wear your favorite hat! (This is also the morning of our 4th/5th grade Spring Concert and Schoolwide Literacy Event!)
Thursday, March 5th: "Buddy Up With a Good Book!" - Match clothes with your bestest buddy!
Friday, March 6th: "Celebrate All Characters!" - Dress up like your favorite book character!

We’re celebrating staff members who go above and beyond for our students every single day.

Curriculum: Ms. Weber and Ms. Brier
Creativity: MS. Milliner and Ms. Norman
Child Advocate: Deputy George and Ms. Aman
These teachers consistently show up with heart, high expectations, and a whole lot of love for kids. Help us give them a BIG congratulations! 👏💛

Can't wait to see what "animals" come to school tomorrow for Wild Kratts!

Who is ready to join the band??
5th Grade Students got the chance to meet with Mrs. Marshburn, the Cape Fear MS band director, last week to learn more about joining the band program in 6th grade. Students are coming home with more information this week, including information about an interest meeting on March 10th at 5:30pm in the CFMS band room. Parents can learn more about the instrumental rental program and how students will choose their instruments.
You can also reach out to Mrs. Marshburn (kayla_marshburn@pender.k12.nc.us) or Mrs. Black (laura_black@pender.k12.nc.us) for more information. We can't wait to welcome your student into their new musical journey!
