Hello Ram Families!

We hope that all families are enjoying Spring Break! Please remember that the Final Push Reading Challenge is continuing throughout Spring Break. Please consider completing the PCS Million Minute Reading Challenge google form found here, RPE Million Minute Reading Challenge!

  • Outdoor Reading Picnic: Combine sunny weather with reading by packing books, snacks, and a blanket for a park or backyard.

  • Literary Scavenger Hunt: Encourage young readers to find items at home or on vacation that rhyme, start with specific letters, or fit thematic prompts.

  • Book Exchange: Host a gathering with friends to share, swap, and discuss favorite books.

  • Movie/Book Pairings: Read a book, then watch the movie adaptation as a reward.

Thank you for encouraging our students to continue reading for fun during Spring Break!

Rocky Point Rams Cook Up Success!

Monday our 21st Century after-school program students participated in a special Camp Cook session. They made their own smoothies, received their Camp Cook Completion certificates, and took home goody bags.

It was a great way to celebrate their effort and learning—students had a really good time.

If you arrive for drop-off and there are no staff members on the sidewalk, please park and walk your child in to check them in as they are counted tardy. Thank you for your help in ensuring that students are present for the full instructional day!

Our students had an incredible time at a recent assembly with the Raleigh Rockers!

This talented breakdancing group amazed everyone with their spins, flips, and high-energy moves while also teaching students about hip hop culture and rapping. Along the way, students learned how creativity, rhythm, and practice all come together in dance and music.

Thank you to the Raleigh Rockers for bringing the energy and inspiration to Rocky Point Elementary!

We're less than a month away from April 2nd - our K/1 Spring Performances and K-5 Field Day! We are in need of more volunteers for field day, so please consider signing up to help. Some of the games we need help with are:

“Capture the Cone”
“Never Ending Tag”
“Water Party”
“Sponge Relay”
“Crab Soccer”
“Kool Zone”
“Drip, Drip, Drop”
“Parachute”

We have a few water games that we will definitely need parent help with, especially with help refilling the water buckets as needed. If you help with a game, your main job will be to help monitor the game (the classroom teachers will be there as well) and to help rest the game in between groups. It's a great way to volunteer and help our students have the best day possible!

If you're interested, you can sign up using this link or send in the form that was sent home with students last week. Thanks for your help!

Check it out! Ms. Stewart's second graders took time to buddy up and read to some of our preschoolers on Friday. The students were skeptical at first, but then they enjoyed the experience so much that they asked to do it again!

Reading together is a way to promote bonding and social connection. This weekend, take the time to read with your child - we are sure it will be a great experience for both of you!
