Save the Date! Join us in December for our Winter Concerts - Kindergarten through 2nd grade will present their concert on Thursday, December 12th, and 3rd-5th grades will present their concert on Tuesday, December 17th. Both concerts will start at 6:00pm in the Rocky Point Gymnasium. Students should "dress to impress." AND...the Book Fair will be open before and after the concerts, so please plan to stop by and support our school and your student's love for reading! __________________________________________________ ¡Guarda la fecha! Our Yearbook Cover Contest is complete, and we're ready to announce the winners! It's not Tuesday, but....Meet Laura Black, Music Teacher Extraordinaire at Rocky Point Elementary! 🎶🎻✨ With 18 years of teaching under her belt, Ms. Black brings music to life for students in grades K-5 at Rocky Point Elementary. Her journey to teaching began back in 6th grade when she first picked up the violin, and since then, she’s known that sharing music is her calling! 🎼💫 Ms. Black's favorite subject? Music, of course! 🎤🥁 She especially loves teaching improvisation units, where her students' creativity truly shines. 🌈✨ Watching a child play a new instrument for the first time—and seeing the joy in their eyes—is a priceless experience for her! Special accomplishments? Ms. Black was named NCMEA Elementary Music Teacher of the Year last year! 🏆🎉 She’s also presented at professional development sessions across several states, sharing her expertise with fellow educators. 🌍🎓 Outside the classroom, Ms. Black enjoys baking 🧁, playing the violin🎻, and sewing for her daughter 👗. Her family pet, Colonel Whiskers the cat, comes with his own backstory of battles fought in the "Fur War"—a family favorite! 🐱💼 Her top travel destination is Disney World! 🌟🏰 She’s been twice with her family and can't wait to return for more magical memories. Guided by her motto, "Every moment matters," Ms. Black makes every day in her music classroom a memorable experience for her students! 🎶🌟

Veterans Day Ceremony: On November 8th at 1:00pm, we will be holding a Veterans Day Ceremony to honor those in our community who have served our country. Veterans are asked to RSVP to Mrs. Black at laura_black@pender.k12.nc.us. We are also looking for photos from your time in service to share with our students at the ceremony. Photos can be emailed to Mrs. Black.

We’ve been informed by Four County Electric about a power outage currently affecting several schools in the Rocky Point area. The following schools are experiencing outages: Rocky Point Elementary, Cape Fear Middle, Cape Fear Elementary, Pender Innovative Learning Academy, Heide Trask High. Our teams are closely monitoring the situation, and Four County Electric is working to restore power as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience and understanding!

The Rocky Point PTO is selling Halloween "Boo!" Grams for just $1 each! Students can send their friends a special Halloween bracelet, or parents could surprise their student with one! Don't forget! Monday, October 21st is an early release day, with school dismissing at 11:20. Remember, there is no 21st Century Program that day, so be sure to communicate any transportation changes with your student's teacher. ------------------------------------------------ ¡No olviden que el lunes, 21 de octubre es día de salida temprana! Finally, 5th grade's turn! Every quarter, we have a PBIS celebration to celebrate our awesome Rams! These students have shown the great character traits of responsibility, achievement, manners, and safety, and they have definitely earned this fun time with their peers in the gym! (Post 3/3)
