Tyler Guzman signing pre-apprenticeship

On Friday, January 13, 2023, Tyler Guzuman, a twelfth grade student at PHS, signed a pre-apprenticeship with Security Plus Electrical. The pre-apprenticeship is a program to help students prepare for an apprenticeship which can lead to employment. Tyler is the first student in Pender County Schools to be state registered and approved for the pre-apprentice program. He signed his paperwork on Friday while his parents, grandparents, the owners of Security Plus Electrical, the PCS Superintendent Dr. Brad Breedlove, Board of Education chairman Mr. Ken Smith, other District personnel, Ms. Caroline Godwin, Ms. Bevin Stokes PHS’s Career Development Coordinator, some District CTE instructors, and friends and faculty of PHS looked on.

A small reception was held after the signing. The hors d’oeuvres for the reception, which were provided by the foods and nutrition classes at Heide Trask High School, were enjoyed by everyone.

Everyone at PHS is very proud of Tyler and we wish him the best in his future endeavors.
