Raider Team Wins 2022 Best of the Best Raider Competition

On Saturday, April 23, 2022, the Pender High School JROTC Male Raider Team won the 2022 Best of the Best Raider Competition. The team won first place in Litter Carry. They placed second in the team fitness challenge, the One Rope Bridge, and the 5k team Road March. The team placed third in the Logistics Relay.

This was the first time since 2015 that the PHS male team has won this event. The male team won the event back to back in 2014 and 2015. This is a regional competition that spans 400 JROTC programs from 6 states, 14 teams, and one champion. PHS is the only school in this region to have won this championship three times.

The male team was led by senior cadet Sam Wheeler. Other members of the team are: senior Cristian Cruz-Martinez; juniors, Austin Anderson, Kamden Paluck, and Tyler Guzman; sophomore, James Wood; and freshmen, Aidan Murray, Carter Brown, and Luis Santos-Garcia.
