Ironman Volunteers

For the past 10 years, PHS Beta has been dedicated to giving back by volunteering at the Ironman race in Wilmington, NC. Each year, over 100 students from Beta, ROTC, and Track contribute in various roles. Bike aid station volunteers ensure that cyclists receive water, hydration fluids, energy gels, and fruit at the halfway point of the bike race. They are also responsible for keeping the area clean by picking up bottles and wrappers left behind by the bikers. Meanwhile, students who are not stationed at the aid station serve as directional volunteers, guiding cyclists along the route through the scenic Pender County back roads and ensuring their safety. It may seem like a lot of work, but every year, students and sponsors alike enjoy the experience of cheering on the bikers as they navigate the course.
