FORT JACKSON, S.C. — Seventeen cadets from Pender High School's Patriot Battalion recently completed an intensive six-day Junior ROTC Cadet Leadership Challenge at Camp Carolina North, Fort Jackson. This annual event aims to foster leadership skills and teamwork among JROTC cadets from across North and South Carolina.
Throughout the challenge, cadets engaged in a series of demanding activities designed to test their physical endurance and enhance their leadership abilities. They navigated obstacle courses like the Confidence Course and the Teamwork Development Course, while also enjoying unique experiences such as archery, canoeing, and engaging in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) projects.
A highlight of the week was "Org Day," a lively gathering where cadets from various schools came together to share stories, forge new friendships, and reflect on their transformative experiences. This event not only provided a break from rigorous training but also reinforced camaraderie among participants.
Cadet Trace Loman distinguished himself by achieving the coveted Honor Cadet title, recognizing his outstanding performance throughout the challenge. Loman's achievement highlights the dedication and commitment demonstrated by all participants from Pender High School.
As the challenge concluded, cadets returned home equipped with invaluable leadership skills and a renewed sense of camaraderie, ready to apply their newfound knowledge in their respective JROTC units.
