Our Pre-K went to the Burgaw Library and then the park. They engaged in a scanner hunt to learn how the library works and how to locate sections of the library. They read stories and then did hands on fine motor , math, literacy, science and art learning activities.

The votes are in! To celebrate Election Day, Mrs. Hollifield's 2nd grade class held their own class election on favorite snacks. Students made voter registration cards, voted on ballots, and helped tally results.
First-grade students seized the opportunity to shape their sweet treats future by casting votes for their preferred candy candidate in the engaging "Candy Class Election".
We even had a special visitor that voted too... Mr. Greg!
Ms O’Carrolls homeroom received their reward for 25 paw prints with extra recess on a beautiful Friday!

Mark Your Calendars:
Tuesday, November 5th is a teacher workday. There is no school for students.
Report cards come home on Wednesday, November 6th. If you need to schdule a conference please contact your child's teacher.
All 3rd, 4th, 5th grade will take the Math Check-In's to show what you know. If your child is absent they will have to make up the assessment when they return.
Monday, November 11th is Veterans Day. There is no school.
The flu clinic will be at CFE on Tuesday, November 12th at 7:30 am. If you would like your child to have a flu shot here at school that will be given by the health department you will need to fill out an online permission form. Paper copies are also available by reqeust.
Fall school picture make-up day is scheduled for Thursday, November 14th.
Dental Screening will begin for all Kindergarten students on Wednesday, November 13th. Please let your teacher know if you do not want your child to participate.
Pender County Schools is in the second week of survey collections for the PCS Strategic Plan Development. To reflect our community’s goals for PCS, student voices and opinions are important. On Wednesday, November 6, 2024, middle and high students will be reminded to participate in the optional survey. The survey is designed to help Pender County Schools gain valuable insight into the development of our five-year strategic plan.
If you would like to allow your middle or high school child the option to participate, you do not need to do anything. If you would prefer that your middle or high school child NOT participate in the survey at school, please request a form from your child's school and return it by November 4th.
Parent and family focus groups will also begin on November 12th.
Lastly, our lost and found box is overflowing with jackets and lost items. Please remind your child to pick up these items on Monday. All other items will be donated.
This is a reminder if you need to change your child’s transportation arrangements, please send a note to your child’s teacher. If a change must be made by phone, please contact us by 2:00 pm. Additionally, there are no checkouts after 2:00pm. When signing your child out, please remain inside the office.

Mrs Hewlett's class had the best day in the dark! We discussed nocturnal animals, played ghost fundations toss, had spider races, worked on those fine motor skills getting creepy bugs out of spider webs, making witches brew; retelling There was an Old Lady who was afraid of nothing, and carving pumpkins! It was a busy day of fun and learning!
Ms. Thompson's class are working on place value in math, so they were assigned a monster with a specific total value and had to show the expanded form, word form, and standard form of the number! Great job!

Today we celebrated the PAWS-itive behavior our Cubs have shown this first nine weeks! How many books can you guess from these awesome costumes?
Mrs.Bass' class reached 50 paw prints and chose Mr. Chris to be their guest reader all the way from England!
4th Grade wrapped up their Animal Communication unit in Science by creating Firefly Habitats.
This year, 4th Graders had some interesting visitors. Part of our Science Unit, 4th grade students observed the different ways animals communicate. Wave hello to our little Fiddler Crab Friends, they may just wave back!
