Good evening West Pender Middle School families, this is Principal Garza with your Weekly Warrior message.
We are excited to welcome back out Warriors in the new year. This Monday student will receive their new enrichment schedules for Quarter 3 and many students will start a new electives and CORE rotations in second semester. All homeroom teachers will be reviewing with students our Warrior expectations to settle back into the routines of the school day.
Our CFCC Career Academy is now registering students for the WPMS Career Academy Summer Enrichment Camp! This is an exciting two week opportunity for our students to get hands on experience in future careers as they explore the many programs at Cape Fear Community College and it is complete FREE for WPMS students! WPMS Athletics:
- Tuesday, January 10th - Boys Basketball Tryouts (3:30PM - 5:30PM)
- Thursday, January 12th - 13th - Girls Basketball Tryouts (3:20PM - 4:45PM)
- Thursday, January 12th - 13th - Cheerleading Tryouts (3:00PM - 5:00PM)
*All students must have a current physical on file to tryout. Our tryout and practice times for basketball do not start immediately after school, therefore, students must have transportation back to WPMS to participate or they can register to attend our free Communities in Schools (CIS) after school program to attend after school on campus as they wait for their practices to begin. This is a great opportunity for our athletes to get assistance with their homework and ensure that they stay academically eligible to play. Students will receive CIS registration paperwork during lunches on Monday and Tuesday of this week.
