Good evening West Pender Middle School families, this is Principal Garza with your Weekly Warrior message.
We hope hat everyone had a safe weekend and did not experience any long-term impacts from the storm. In order for students to be counted present for Friday, September 30th, students must complete the grade level assignment that was given to them this past Thursday. Students were able to turn this in online or paper/pencil. Failure to turn this in tomorrow will result in an absence for this past Friday. Please encourage your child to complete this short assignment and to have it ready to turn in by homeroom tomorrow.
Our afterschool program hosted by Community in Schools begins this Monday. Students that have already registered and have received confirmation will report to the CIS room by the media center after school. Parents will need to come by anytime from 4:00 - 6:00PM to sign the CIS Afterschool contract if they have not already. Contact Veronica Lewis for any questions: veronica_lewis@pender.k12.nc.us
WPMS Athletics: We have two athletic events scheduled for this week. On Monday, October 3rd our softball players will play away at Surf City Middle School with a start time of 4:00PM and then on Wednesday, October 5th our football players will play at Cape Fear Middle School at 4:30PM. We hope to see you all there!
Standardized Assessments: On Tuesday, October 4th through Thursday, October 6th your child will take their NC Check-in assessment. All grade levels will take a Reading and Math Check-in and students in grade 8 will take a Science Check-in. The main purpose of these Check-ins is to benchmark your student’s progress toward mastering the content standards of their current courses. Your student will not receive a grade after completing this assessment but parents will receive individual student reports that illustrate student progress.
