Good evening West Pender Middle School families, this is Principal Garza with your Weekly Warrior message.
This Monday, September 26th, interim Reports will go home with your student. Please be sure to ask to review these reports so that we can all participate in supporting the academic success of our West Pender Warriors.
On Thursday, September 29, 2022 at 5:30PM we will have our annual Title 1 Meeting in the WPMS Media Center. Join us to gain some valuable information regarding our Title 1 status. After this meeting we will relocate to the WPMS gym for our student Beta Induction ceremony at 6:00pm. We are very excited to celebrate our 2022-2023 student Beta members.
WPMS Athletics: We have three athletic events scheduled for this week. On Monday, September 26th our softball players will play at Pender Memorial Park at 4:00PM. Wednesday, September 28th, our football players will play away at Surf City Middle School starting at 4:30PM. Last but not least, on Thursday, September 29th our softball players will play at Cape Fear Middle School. The game begins at 4:00PM. A reminder that all athletes should sign out with their coach or an administrator prior to leaving the game field with a parent or guardian. We hope to see you all there!
Standardized Assessments: On October 4 -6 your child will take their NC Check-in assessment. All grade levels will take a Reading and Math Check-in and students in grade 8 will take a Science Check-in. The main purpose of these Check-ins is to benchmark your student’s progress toward mastering the content standards of their current courses. Your student will not receive a grade after completing this assessment but parents will receive individual student reports that illustrate student progress.
