West Pender Middle School recently hosted a special visit from Cape Fear Community College's EMS program, offering students a unique opportunity to explore careers in emergency medical services.
As part of the Career and Technical Education (CTE) program, students were introduced to the fast-paced world of EMS through interactive presentations and hands-on activities. The visit allowed students to gain valuable insights into the life-saving skills required in the field and the various career pathways available within emergency services.
CFCC's EMS team provided demonstrations, answered questions, and engaged with the students, giving them a first-hand look at the roles and responsibilities of emergency medical technicians (EMTs) and paramedics. The event was designed to inspire and educate young minds about the importance of the profession and the steps they can take to pursue a future in EMS.
WPMS CTE teacher, Ken Smith stated, "The CTE program at West Pender Middle School continues to provide students with exposure to a range of careers, equipping them with the knowledge and experiences necessary to make informed decisions about their future. The visit from CFCC's EMS program was an exciting and educational experience that left students more informed and inspired about careers in healthcare and emergency services."
