BURGAW, NC - Following discussions with local emergency management officials and meteorologists, Pender County Schools has made the decision to close all schools and move to remote learning for Thursday, August 31. All after school activities, including PACES, are canceled for both Wednesday and Thursday.
Barring unforeseen developments, we plan to conduct classes and activities as usual on Friday, September 1, that decision is subject to change as this weather pattern has the potential to lead to localized flooding and other associated challenges.
Our top priority is the safety and well-being of our students, staff, and community members.
In order to ensure a smooth transition to remote learning, our teachers are committed to maintaining open lines of communication with students regarding their lesson plans. Teachers will provide detailed instructions and resources ensuring that students have access to the necessary materials. Families who have limited or no access to internet services, please coordinate with your teachers to make the necessary arrangements.
Additionally, please note that attendance will be taken to track students’ participation and engagement while away from the classroom. We encourage all students to actively participate in the remote lessons and submit any assignments as outlined by their teachers.
For up-to-date information and any further announcements, we encourage you to visit the Pender County Schools website (pender.k12.nc.us) and follow us on our official social media channels, including Facebook and X (formerly Twitter). In situations of closures or schedule changes, we will promptly utilize our alert text and voice call messaging system to keep you informed.
We greatly appreciate your ongoing attention and cooperation throughout this challenging period. The safety of our students and the broader community remains our paramount concern. Thank you for your understanding as we navigate this weather event together.
