Greetings WPMS Community,
The safety of our students is always a high priority for all of us at West Pender Middle School. One of the best ways we can ensure a safe school environment is to practice our emergency procedures. As required by state law, our school must conduct several practice fire, severe weather, and lockdown drills throughout the school year.
Today, at 9:15am, WPMS conducted a “Shelter in Place” drill to practice the emergency procedures in a situation when there is a potential threat in our surrounding area. We are very proud of our warriors today. They listened to directions and the drill was conducted in a calm and orderly fashion.
Our emergency preparedness plans have been developed in coordination with local law enforcement, emergency management officials, and Pender County Schools. The plans are regularly reviewed and updated and include procedures on how to respond to critical incidents such as fires, tornadoes, and other events. Students and staff regularly practice safety drills.
We will continue to keep you informed of safety and security measures in place at our school. If you have questions, please call or contact the school office.
