Weekly Community Message from Mr. Lawrence

Good evening Topsail Middle families, this is Mr. Lawrence with this week's community message.  This will be a short week for students and will be the last community message for this calendar year.  On behalf of the staff at TMS, we would like to wish everyone a blessed winter break.  Winter break for students will begin on Wednesday, December 21 and students will return to campus on Monday, January 9.   We have new information to share this week, so check your email or the school website for our TMS community message. 

  • Attention 8th-grade parents, just a reminder that applications for Pender Early College High School are due before January 20, 2023.  We have received references for students but we are missing many of the applications.  Please remind your student if they are interested in attending PECHS to complete the application and submit them to Mrs. Markijohn or Mrs. Jaworowski.

  • Parents, we have an abundance of lost and found items, including hoodies, jackets, water bottles, and lunch boxes.  Please stop by the office or remind your student to check the lost and found if they lost anything prior to school being closed after Wednesday of this week.

  • Help us countdown to winter break with our spirit days starting this week!

    • Monday 12/19: Happy Hanukkah: Wear Blue & White

    • Tuesday 12/20: ‘Twas the night before Winter break... Pajama Day

      • **Must follow the school dress code. No masks or hats. Shoulders and mid-drifts should be covered! Holiday Onesies are only permitted on Pajama day, clothing must be worn underneath.

  • Our December Citizens of the Month, recognized for the characteristic of Caring. Students will be announced in homerooms on Monday and students will be treated to lunch on Tuesday! 

Athletics & Clubs

  • In Soccer News we will host the Pender County tournament championship in our stadium on Monday, girls game at 5, and boys to follow after. Both teams will take on Surf City. Come out to support our Pirates!

  • Boys and Girls basketball tryouts will take place when students return from Winter break on January 9.  Please make sure your student-athlete has completed all required physical forms before attending tryouts. 

  • The Builders Club meetings are on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month, please contact Mrs. Williams if you’d like to join! 

  • Congratulations to our new SGA officers! Our first meeting will be held in January. Be sure to check your emails!

  • Topsail High Basketball Clinic will be held January 3, 2023, from 9 AM-noon in the Topsail High gym.  Students in kindergarten - 8th grade is encouraged to sign up AS SOON AS POSSIBLE- using this link - space is limited.  Students will be coached by current players on the Topsail Girls JV and Varsity teams.  Clinic participants will receive a T-Shirt and admission to the game on January 3rd.  Participants are also invited to play "Knockout" on the court during halftime of both games.  Payment of $50 must be made by DECEMBER 20th and can be dropped off at the high school. PTO NEWS

  • With the holiday season upon us, we are trying to spread some cheer and show our appreciation to our TMS staff by putting together a holiday luncheon.  We're providing sandwich platters on the teacher workday (Wednesday, December 21st) and are looking for some help to round out our meal.  Check out our signup sheet for details!

  • We're taking reservations to paint the rock this year!  Please use the signup genius to reserve your date.  Payments can be sent in with students or made to the PTO Venmo account.  ( Click Here for the Reservation Form) We will no longer be using paper forms.

  • Still In Need of Spirit Wear?  We’ve got you covered!  Head over to the PTO and either print off the order form and send it in with your student or email it directly to the PTO. Paper forms will also be sent home with your students soon, so check those backpacks and folders.  You may pay by cash, check, or Venmo.   • Our next Spirit Night is January 4th, 2023!! Come join us for the Flip N Fly Chipotle Spirit Night and help support your school.  Flip N Fly tickets are 14$ at the door from 6-8 pm.  All Chipotle dine-in or take-out orders will support TMS from 4-8 when you mention TMS at the register or use code MGG9K2B for online orders.
