Weekly Community Message from Mr. Lawrence

May 15, 2022

Good evening Topsail Middle families, this is Mr. Lawrence with this week's community message. Hard to believe that this is the last week of school for the 21-22 school year.   We have an overwhelming amount of clothing in our lost and found, please encourage your student to check the lost and found this week before they leave for summer break.  Any clothing, shoes, water bottles not picked up by May 26 will be donated to charities.   With state testing taking place for the Science EOG on Tuesday for our 5th and 8th grade students, please help by ensuring your student charges their chromebook each evening and gets plenty of rest the night before testing. Students will be returning their Chromebooks and chargers starting on Wednesday of this week.  We have a number of events happening at Topsail Middle this week so please be sure to check your email or our school website for this week's community message.

  • 8th grade Announcement:  May 19 from 9-11 moving up ceremony for 8th grade at the Stadium. 8th grade Parents, please consider parking in the Topsail High School student parking lot on May 19 due to the ceremony taking place at the stadium.  The ceremony will begin promptly at 9:00am.

  • 5th grade will have an awards ceremony in the Aux gym on Friday, May 20 starting at 8am.  Parents are welcome to attend this event and cheer on our 5th grade students for all their hard work this year.

  • 7th grade will have an awards ceremony in the Aux gym on Friday, May 20 at 10am.  Parents are encouraged to attend this event while we recognize our 7th grade students for their dedication and perseverance this school year.

  • Invitations to the PCS summer learning program went home last week.  Please be sure to return the invitation if your student has received one.

  • Invitations for accelerated courses will be mailed home at the conclusion of the school year.

  • Parents, we need your help with ensuring bus assignments for the 2022-2023 school year.  Our goal is to have all of our TMS parents complete this survey prior to May 9.  Even if you are planning to not have your child ride a bus next year, please take a couple of minutes to complete the survey:  Student Ridership Survey 2022-2023 School Year

  • Attention Parents, the Pender Mobile Dental clinic is now at Topsail Middle School until July 22.  The clinic provides routine and basic dental treatment to ALL interested students, parents, and staff.  If you would like to take advantage of the dental services they provide, parents and staff can call the mobile for an appointment and students can ask his/her teacher for a form.  A parent must complete the form and have your child return it to our school nurse.  Please be aware that they make every effort to treat your child during elective classes so they are not missing out on core class instruction.  If you have questions or would like more information, please call the mobile at 910-470-3250 or 910-279-3204.

  • Attention parents: please be sure to update your child’s information using Scribbles for the next school year.  It can be found under the “Enrollment” tab on the PCS website.  You will need to create an account if you have never used Scribbles before.
