Good evening Topsail Middle families, this is Mr. Lawrence with this week's community message. This will be the last community message for the next couple of weeks, since we will be observing our Spring Break the week of March 7-11. This means after this week students will return to campus on March 14. We hope our students and families have the opportunity to unplug, relax, and reboot for the remaining 2 months of this school year. I would like to congratulate our 5th grade Battle of the Books team for the district championship they earned last week. Also, our Middle School Battle of the Books team will be traveling to Surf City this Thursday for the middle school competition. Good luck, and keep up the hard work Pirates! Attention parents, the NC Department of Transportation will be on campus on March 2 to conduct a traffic study of our campus. The Engineers on campus will be observing the queues and walking around in an orange vest while conducting the traffic study.
Attention 5th-grade parents: We will be sharing the Always Changing Program with our 5th-grade students on Thursday, April 14. This is a traditional opportunity that we have provided our 5th-grade students in PCS to learn further about human development. Please see this letter for more information. Also, just a reminder that we will need the permission slips turned in to your child’s homeroom teacher by Friday, April 8.

Yearbooks for the 21-22 school year are on sale now. You can purchase it by going to this website using the ID Code: 14491022. The deadline for ordering yearbooks this year is Monday, March 21. The cost is $26 per copy. Students will not be able to purchase Yearbooks after the March 21 date.

Attention 8th-grade parents: Information and permission slips for the end of the year formal will be available in your student’s Google classroom starting tomorrow, Monday, February 28. Please review the information with your student before Thursday, as tickets will be available for an early-purchase rate of $10 in the cafeteria during lunch both Thursday and Friday! February is CTE month! CTE stands for Career and Technology Education and includes many elective courses like STEM, office productivity, keyboarding, and career exploration. In addition to expanded courses at the high school level, CTE also includes programs like Career and College Promise with Cape Fear Community College, and internship and advanced study options as well. Join us in celebrating CTE as your student becomes college and career ready.

Operation Military Kids Club will be recognizing our military kids during the month of April with a star with the student's first name on it. There are currently 18 kids registered at TMS!! Attention 7th and 8th-grade parents, we will be providing a Vaping Education assembly for our students in partnership with Coastal Horizons during the first week of March.

SPORTS
Congratulations to our boys and girls basketball teams for a successful regular season. Our girls finished 2nd in the middle school division and our boys finished tied for 1st place with Surf City.
Monday, our girls will travel to Surf City to take on Cape Fear. The tip-off for this game will be at 4:00 pm.
Tuesday, we will host the boy's semifinal games. Our boys will be playing West Pender in the 2nd game with an expected tip-off time of 5:00 pm.
Based on the outcome of the semifinals games Monday and Tuesday will determine the location and time of our Basketball finals tournament that is set to take place on Thursday, March 3.
Attention Girls interested in playing Volleyball and boys interested in playing Baseball. Tryouts will take place the week of March 14. Please be sure to complete all the necessary paperwork, including a physical, prior to tryouts. Any questions please contact Tim Chase, Athletic Director.
