Weekly Community Message from Mr. Lawrence

Good evening Topsail Middle families, this is Mr. Lawrence with this week's community message. This week is teacher appreciation week so please be sure to encourage your student to let their teacher know how much they are appreciated.  Thank you to all of our students and families who participated in Spring Fest over the weekend.  We have new information to share this week, so check your email or the school website for our TMS community message. 

  • Parents, mark your calendars for our end of year ceremonies.  Our moving up ceremony for 8th grade will take place at the football stadium on Thursday, May 25.  Ceremony will begin promptly at 9am so please plan to arrive a little early.  We will also have end of year awards ceremonies for our students in grades 5-7 on Wednesday, May 24 in our Aux Gym.

    • 5th Grade May 24 at 8am

    • 6th Grade May 24 at 10am

    • 7th Grade May 24 at 12pm

    • 8th Grade Moving UP ceremony, May 25 at 9am TMS/THS Football Stadium

      • We are requesting that parents park in our large PA lot on the North side of our campus near our gyms on these days.

  • Summer Learning- TMS will be hosting current 6th and 7th graders for Summer Learning from June 15th through June 30th.  We will be providing both interventions and enrichments and students will get an opportunity to re-take EOGs if they did not pass the first time.  Please fill out this form if you are interested in having your student attend.

  • Parents- we need your help with completing the required bus mandatory ridership survey.  This will help our transportation department develop routes for the 23-24 school year.

  • Parents! We need your help to make our SGA Powder Puff Volleyball game a success. If you can help sell t-shirts at lunch (25-minute increments 10a-12:30p) please reach out to Mrs. Baer! lindsay_baer@pender.k12.nc.us The SGA Volleyball game will take place on Thursday of this week.

  • TMS is hosting the mobile dental clinic on campus through the middle of July.  Anyone interested in these services can pick up a form from the Nurses office.

  • Pender County Schools will be offering Career Accelerator Academies, this summer, for rising 6th - 12th grade students.   Depending on location, students will have the opportunity to explore careers related to Health Science, Foods and Nutrition,  Marketing, Agriculture, STEM,  Robotics, or Computer Science while also learning  technical & problem-solving skills needed in today's job market.  The CTE Accelerator Academies will operate at 2 middle schools (Cape Fear Middle School and Topsail Middle School) and all 3 of our high school locations.  Dates for rising 6th grade at TMS will be 7/24 - 7/27.

  • 8th grade parents: Our 2nd and 3rd quarter raffles were a HUGE success thanks to your gift card donations. We’ve decided to do this again for our students for the 3rd quarter. Students can enter the raffle for a gift card using Pirate Cash they earn for positive behavior. If you are interested in supporting our students and this raffle, please use our sign-up genius and send in your donations with your student to Ms. Bafunno in room 810 by Friday, May 12th.

  • Are you looking for an exciting new career? PCS is hiring! Starting pay for bus drivers in Pender County is $15 an hour. Once part of our team you'll enjoy a Monday-Friday schedule with nights, weekends and holidays off. This is a perfect opportunity for those who are retired, who are stay-at-home parents, or those looking for extra income. Athletics & Clubs

  • Parens, our TMS Band concert that will take place on May 8 from 6-7:30 at Topsail High School.

  • Congratulations to our baseball and volleyball teams for an undefeated season.  Our teams will begin playoffs this week.  Volleyball will take place at THS starting at 4pm on Tuesday, May 9.  Baseball semi-finals will be played at Kiwanis park starting at 4pm on Wednesday, May 10, baseball finals will be kiwanis park on Thursday, May 11.  The cost to attend the games is $5 at the gate.  Games are set to begin at 4 pm.

  • Still In Need of Spirit Wear?  We’ve got you covered!  Head over to the PTO and either print off the order form and send it in with your student or email it directly to the PTO.
