BURGAW, NC – Pender County Schools is proud to announce that Topsail High School's Miranda Wells has been named one of 24 finalists for the prestigious NCCAT 2024 Burroughs Wellcome Fund North Carolina Career and Technical Education (CTE) Teacher of the Year Award. This honor highlights her dedication to fostering student success and preparing them for future career opportunities.

The North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching (NCCAT) selected Wells from among hundreds of CTE teachers across the state. The award recognizes teachers who demonstrate innovation, creativity, and an unwavering commitment to inspiring students to achieve their full potential.

One finalist will be named the NCCAT 2024 Burroughs Wellcome Fund NC CTE Teacher of the Year during an award ceremony on October 3, 2024, at the John W. Bardo Fine and Performing Arts Center at Western Carolina University. The event will celebrate the important role of CTE educators in preparing students for academic success and workforce readiness.

“I am honored to represent Pender County Schools and to be recognized alongside such talented educators,” said Wells. “Career and Technical Education opens doors for our students, and I am passionate about helping them gain the skills they need to thrive.”

As part of the recognition, Wells and the other finalists will participate in a week of professional development at the NCCAT campus in Cullowhee, from September 30 to October 4. This immersive experience will provide valuable tools and resources to help them continue making a positive impact in their classrooms.
