Good Afternoon Topsail Annandale Elementary Families-

This is Mrs. Wilson, re-sharing our car rider line procedures to make sure everybody is prepared for Monday morning.

We want to share some important drop-off and pick-up procedures with all families since many of you will be doing this for the first time. Our process is the same as it was last year for those of you who have done it in the past.

TES AM Drop Off- 7:05-7:30am (Morning Bell Rings at 7:30am)

Families will have two options:

~Students can ride the bus

~Parent can use the car rider drop off line

~For the health and safety of students and staff, we are unable to allow parents to exit their vehicles to walk students up to or into school. The only exception is that Kindergarten families can walk their child in on their first staggered start day.

AM Car Rider Info for TES Only families and TES/TMS shared Families (remains the same as the 21-22 school year):

~The main entrance to TES will be closed in the mornings. All traffic MUST enter the TES car rider line via Jenkins Rd.

~TES AM car rider traffic will enter using the traffic light at Hwy 17 and Jenkins Rd. (This is the light that is the main entrance to Topsail High School).

~After turning onto Jenkins Rd., parents will continue straight to the stop sign and make a right on St. John's Church Rd.

~Parents will follow St. John's Church Rd. and turn left into the FIRST THS parking lot. Please drive on the side of the parking lot closest to the school and turn right to go behind THS toward the student parking lot.

~When arriving at the THS student parking lot, cars will make a left and drive along the exterior perimeter of the THS student parking lot.

~Parents will follow the exterior perimeter of the THS student parking lot down to the TES/TMS shared lot.

~After arriving in the shared TES/TMS parking lot, parents will stay to the right and drop elementary students off along the sidewalk, by the back entrance to TES. Please pull past the drop-off school entrance down to the end of the sidewalk to allow as many vehicles as possible to unload at one time. Students may get out of the car on their own. They do not have to wait for a staff member to approach their vehicle.

~If parents are only dropping off a TES student, they have two options to exit the campus: First, they can stay straight and enter the traffic circle in front of TMS and exit onto HWY 17 using the light at Vista Ln and HWY 17. Both lanes of traffic are able to turn right at this stop light. Alternatively, parents can continue to follow traffic pattern for TMS drop-off, and then drive behind THS, exiting the campus the same way they came in.

~If parents need to drop off a TMS student in addition to a TES student, they will continue left in the parking lot and drop their TMS student along the TMS grass line. Please pull past the drop-off school entrance to allow as many vehicles as possible to unload at one time. Parents dropping off students at both schools will exit the same way they entered, by driving behind THS and exiting out St. Johns Church and Jenkins Rd.

~Please yield to any buses that you may encounter throughout this process.

PM Car Rider Info for TES Only families and TES/TMS shared Families (Remains the same as the 21-22 school year) :

~The main entrance/exit to TES will be closed in the afternoons (after 2:05). All traffic MUST enter the TES parking lot/car rider line via Jenkins Rd.

~For families who have students at both schools, TMS students will be escorted over to TES to wait and load with their younger siblings.

~TES PM car rider traffic (and TES/TMS shared families) will enter using the traffic light at Hwy 17 and Jenkins Rd. (This is the light that is the main entrance to Topsail High School).

~After turning onto Jenkins Rd., parents will continue straight to the stop sign and make a right on St. John's Church Rd.

~Parents will follow St. John's Church Rd. past the front of Topsail High School. They will then make a left into the THS student parking lot (please ignore the signs that say “students only”). Please DO NOT turn into the TES parking lot without first riding through the THS parking lot. Parents will stack/line up along the sidewalks surrounding the THS student lot.

~Parents will follow the exterior sidewalks of the student parking lot and make an entire “square” before exiting the parking lot.

~As parents exit the THS student parking lot, a staff member will be present to assist with traffic direction, as parents will cross over to enter the TES parking lot.

~Parents will then drive straight forward (towards 17) in the TES parking lot and after passing the breezeway and the flag pole, make a left into the front playground area.

~Please do not block the entrance way to the school. We must keep the entrance clear in the event an emergency vehicle needs to gain access to our school.

~A staff member (usually Mrs. Wilson) will be at the gate. Please give your student(s) first and last name and grade level, so we can call for him/her and they can be ready to load when you pull up.

~Parents will line up along the sidewalk, in the front playground area, where students will load into vehicles.

~Please pull straight forward, all the way up to the vehicle in front of you or to the end of the sidewalk. Be sure students can easily enter your backseat through the back driver's side door of your car. We do NOT want students walking in between cars to enter the front passenger side door.

~If your child requires assistance with a car seat or seat belt, please pull all the way to the front of the line or please pull over to assist them.

~Parents will exit the front playground area by making a right and using the light in front of TMS to turn onto HWY 17. Both lanes are able to turn right at that light.

~Please yield to any buses that you may encounter throughout this process.

Parents, to keep the line moving efficiently, please do NOT exit your vehicle during drop off or pick-up. Parents may not park at the high school and walk their students down to the elementary school. The only parents that should be walking students down from the high school are high school staff members.

We appreciate your patience during the first week of school when our car rider line tends to take a much lengthier amount of time than usual. Once everybody gets in the routine, it will move much faster!

*Please remember for the safety of our staff and students, parent walk-ups are NOT allowed during morning or afternoon drop off/pick-up. We promise we will have many staff members welcoming students, calming their jitters, assisting with carrying any supplies, and walking students to class.

Thank you for following our procedures and ensuring the safety of our students and staff!
