Good Afternoon Topsail Elementary Families!

This is Mrs. Wilson, principal at Topsail Annandale Elementary, with a back to school update.

Just as we did last year, all families will receive a weekly Sunday night update from me. Beginning this week, we will be transitioning to only sending the message out through e-mail (we will no longer include a phone call). I am including a brief call this week just to remind families to check their e-mail. We apologize that this week's message is lengthy. We have a lot of important beginning-of-year information. In addition to my weekly e-mail, the weekly updates are always posted on our school website. Please be sure the front office has your most up-to-date e-mail address.

It was great to see everybody at open house on Thursday! If you haven't already purchased your school supplies, lists can be found on our website and they are linked here: https://www.pender.k12.nc.us/o/tes/documents/supply-lists/280639

As previously shared, our Kindergartners will begin school on a staggered start schedule.

Please plan to have your Kindergarten student attend on the following schedule:

8/29- Students w/ last names A-F

8/30- Students w/ last names G-O

8/31- Students w/ last names P-Z

9/1- All Kindergarten students return to school!

A reminder to all families, our school hours are 7:30-2:30. Student drop off begins at 7:05am. Please do NOT drop students off prior to 7:05 am. Students who are being checked in late must be checked in by 11am to be counted present for the day. Students who are being checked out early, must remain at school until 11:00am to be counted present for the day. We do not allow any early checkouts past 2pm. Thank you for your cooperation.

For the safety of all students and staff, parents are asked to either uses our buses or car rider line for morning drop off. In an effort to provide the safest school environment possible, we are unable to allow parents to exit their vehicles to walk students up to or into school. We have plenty of staff available to walk students to class and assist them with finding their classrooms! The only exception to this rule is that Kindergarten parents will be allowed to walk their Kindergartner to class on their first (staggered start) day of school only. Beginning 9/1, we ask that they also use the bus or car rider line. Thank you for understanding and helping us to keep all students and staff safe on campus.

Breakfast and lunch are served on campus daily. The Covid funding that allowed meals to be free the last few years is no longer in place, so meals will be "paid" this year. You may put money on your child's account or apply for free or reduced lunch by clicking the following link: family.titank12.com.

A few transportation updates:

Bus schedules were distributed at open house and sent out in a parent e-mail on Friday. You can also use the Bus Stop Look Up feature on the PCS website:http://transportation.pendercountyschools.net/livewq/webquery/ . It takes a week or two for buses to run on a consistent schedule. Please be patient. All K-2 students will only be let off the bus to an adult or older sibling. They may not get off the bus alone. We sent an separate e-mail, yesterday, detailing our car rider process.

If your child is in need of medication at school, please get a “Request for Medication at School” form, from the front office, and have it completed by your child’s doctor. Once completed, please bring the form and the medication, in its original container, to the school nurse. All medication must be transported by a parent. It may not be sent to school with a student.
