In December, the South Topsail Elementary Girls on the Run Team partnered with the PTO to collect canned and non-perishable food items to help support the local food bank. Led by Girls on the Run Coach, Megan Myers, the team was able to collect 3,093 items in one week.

Each day, students and staff enjoyed hearing about which grade level was in the lead. Second and fifth grades battled neck and neck throughout the drive, but kindergarten students brought in 669 items to take the final lead. Kindergarten classes were rewarded with a pizza party for their contributions.

At the close of the Drive, Girls on the Run Team members loaded all of the canned goods onto a truck to be delivered to the local food bank. “I am so proud of the hard work and efforts our Stingrays put into giving back to the community through our Holiday Food Drive," shared Mrs. Myers.
