Principal Spotlight: Crystal Hall 🌟
This National Principal Month, we proudly shine the spotlight on Crystal Hall, the dedicated principal of Surf City Middle School! With 15 years of experience in education, Ms. Hall has spent the last 2 years leading her school with passion and commitment.
A graduate of Johnson & Wales University, University of Phoenix, and Arizona State University, Ms. Hall was inspired to become an educator by her high school culinary arts teacher, Mrs. Judy Jones. Her unique background includes working as a chef and manager for Houlihan's Restaurant Group, showcasing her leadership and creativity early on. 👩🍳
Outside of school, Ms. Hall enjoys boating, hiking, gardening, and cooking—especially Mexican food. 🌮 A lover of all music genres, she also has a hidden talent for singing! 🎤 When she's not at school, you might find her relaxing on the sandbar with her family and dogs. 🐶 Excitingly, she and her family are expecting two grandbabies in the coming months! 👶👶
Ms. Hall cherishes the strong community support at Surf City Middle School and finds joy in celebrating student achievements during graduation and promotion ceremonies. 🎓 One of her favorite school traditions is Frenzy sorting day, where students come together for fun and teamwork. 🎉
Join us in recognizing Principal Crystal Hall for her hard work, dedication, and the positive impact she has on her students and community! 💖 #OnePender #PrincipalSpotlight #PCSFamily

We hope to see you tomorrow night for the Autumn Arts band concert! The concert with drama starts at 6pm and the art pumpkin decorating contest winners will also be announced as well. Please email Mr. Judy if there are any questions.

Twin Day!

🌟 Virtual Field Trip to the NC Museum of Art! 🌟
Over the past two days, our Art students had an incredible opportunity to explore the North Carolina Museum of Art—all from our classroom! 🎨 Through a virtual field trip, students engaged with amazing pieces from the museum's permanent collection, focusing on the exciting theme of "Selfies & Usies." 📸
During this interactive experience, students explored historical and contemporary portraits, discussing how artists and sitters present identity in their works. This journey helped develop visual literacy skills as students closely examined and connected with 2-3 works of art.
We’re thrilled we got to offer our students this FREE program, by bringing the world of art right to their screens! A huge thank you to the NCMA for this incredible opportunity!

Sharks are rocking Hat Day! Be sure and join in the fun tomorrow for Twin Day!

Pender County Schools (PCS) is excited to announce the launch of a community-wide survey as part of the development of our new five-year strategic plan. This initiative marks the first strategic plan for the district in many years, and we are seeking input from parents, students, staff, and community members to help shape the future of education in our schools.
The survey will gather valuable feedback to identify priorities, performance targets, and areas for improvement that will guide the district over the next five years. It is designed to take only five minutes to complete, and all responses will remain confidential.
The survey is available at this link: https://bit.ly/3zY7Ll9 and will remain open until November 8, 2024.
Have a great week!
Mrs. Hall
