Week of May 16, 2022
Good afternoon Surf City Families,
This is Principal Bridgers with your weekly announcements. This is a much longer message than usual. Please make sure to read the email version of it if you are not able to listen at this time.
If you can believe it, this is the last week of school!
We finish our End of Grade Tests this week! It is imperative that your child arrive at school on time. Make sure they get some rest the night before the test.
Tuesday, May 17th (Sci-8th grade only)
Make-ups as necessary and available
Special thanks to all the volunteer proctors who were able to answer Mr. Horne’s call for help!
Please complete your transportation Google Form if you have not done so already. The county needs this information from all families-not just bus riders. Here is the link:
In case you missed it, there have been a couple of special times to celebrate recently:
May 2-6: Teacher Appreciation Week (Thanks for all you do, teachers!)
May 6-12: Nurses’ Week (Thanks for all you do, Nurse Bickta!)
May 11-17: National Police Week (Thanks for all you do, SRO Wyke!)
Thank you for the donation items and volunteers who helped make our 8th grade dance a success!
Summer Learning: If your child received an invitation to Summer Learning, please return the packet to school by Wednesday of this week.
CTE Summer Accelerator Flyers from PCS will be available soon!
From Mrs. Bickta, school nurse:
All children entering the 7th grade in the 2022-2023 school year are required to have the Tdap and Meningococcal vaccine. Please contact our School Nurse or your Health Care Provider if you have any questions.
This is a reminder that if your child has medication in the nurses office it will need to be picked up by the end of school on May 20, 2022 or it will be disposed of properly. Please contact our School Nurse if you need to make arrangements for pick up or have any concerns regarding this matter.
Yearbooks: Good news! After June 1st, you can visit Strawbridge.net and order with the school code: YB113129. There is an additional $10.00 fee to have the yearbook shipped to your home.
Sports Report: Our teams led the county with 4 championships this year, which were in boys and girls soccer, boys basketball, and volleyball. We were runners up in girls basketball and baseball. All 8th graders' physicals have been sent to the high school, so those athletes should check out the athletics website for information on summer workouts and tryouts. Good luck Sharks!
8th grade moving up ceremony: Friday, May 20th, 8:00 am, on our football field, bring a chair
The last general membership PTA meeting with election of officers for next school year is scheduled for Tuesday, May 24th @ 6:00 pm in the school cafeteria.
Make preparations for school meals for next year. Meals will no longer be universally free next school year. Students will be charged based on their eligibility. Complete the meal application online before next school year. The link for the Meal Application can be found from the District’s homepage under the “Community” tab and clicking on “Breakfast & Lunch Online” or by using this direct link https://family.titank12.com/
If you made it this far in the message, give yourself a pat on the back, and remember that It’s a great week to be a Shark!
