Good afternoon Surf City Families,

This is Principal Bridgers with your weekly announcements.  

• Monday is the last day to order your yearbook at the reduced price.     

  • Yearbooks:  www.strawbridge.net  The school code is YB113129.  

• February is CTE month!  CTE stands for Career and Technology Education and includes many of the elective courses like STEM, office productivity, keyboarding, and career exploration.  In addition to expanded courses at the high school level, CTE also includes programs like Career and College Promise with Cape Fear Community College, and internship and advanced study options as well.  Join us in celebrating CTE as your student becomes college and career ready.

• Topsail High School registration will take place the week of March 14th. 8th graders have already begun exploring available classes and building their 4-year plans. A registration sheet will be provided to each family before spring break so that you can review recommended classes together. THS will have a curriculum night on March 14th from 5-7pm to distribute information and answer questions. SCMS will conduct official registration during the school day on March 16th, with makeups on March 18th. Please see the attached flyer and ask Ms. Smith any questions you have. Thank you!

• Sports Report

  • The girls basketball team finished undefeated, and we will host the semifinals Monday. The girls will play at 5:00 pm against Penderlea. The championship game will be Thursday, location TBA. The boys team finished tied for first, and will play Tuesday at 4:00 pm at TMS, against Burgaw. A win will put them in the finals Thursday, too.

• Baseball tryouts will start Monday, March 14th.  Volleyball tryouts will start Tuesday, March 15th.  Players will need to have physicals turned in prior to tryouts, and bring the necessary equipment. For baseball, you'll need a glove and a cap, and for volleyball, knee pads are recommended. Please bring water as well.
