  • SCM Weekly Newsletter, May 8-12, 2023 

  • Good afternoon Sharks!  This is Principal Bridgers with your weekly announcements.  If you can believe it, there are only 15 more days of school!  Please help make full day attendance a priority.

  • Teacher Appreciation Week:  Attention parents! Thank you so much if you were able to sign up for teacher appreciation items in the Sign Up Genius. There is still plenty to donate if you're able! See the attached flyer for activities your students can participate in next week, May 8-12th. We appreciate your support!

  • Sports Report: 

    • The volleyball team finished the regular season at 8-2 and in 2nd place.  The tournament is scheduled for Tuesday at THS.  SCM will play CFM close to 5:00 pm.  If we win, SCM will play for the championship at approximately 6:30 pm that night.

    • The baseball team finished the regular season in 2nd place.  The tournament will begin with a home game against CFM or Penderlea.  If we win, SCM will play in the championship game on Thursday (location TBD).  

    • We will have cheer tryouts on Monday, May 22, Wednesday, May 24, and Thursday, May 25. Monday and Wednesday will be from 3-5pm.  Thursday will be the final tryout from 3-7pm.  Students will need to have a physical in order to participate.   Please contact Coach Council at jodi_council@pender.k12.nc.us with any questions.  See this LINK for important tryout information.

  • Lost & Found:  Have your children look through the lost and found in the cafeteria.  We have lost of jackets, lunch boxes, and water bottles.  All items will be donated at the end of the year if unclaimed.

    • 5/16-Math EOG Test Day (important to be on time…no tardies to school)

    • 5/18-ELA EOG Test Day  (important to be on time…no tardies to school)

    • 5/19-OMKC

    • 5/23-Science EOG Test Day (8th grade only);  (important to be on time…no tardies to school)

    • 5/23-NJHS Induction Ceremony, 6pm

    • 5/26-8th grade moving up ceremony, 8am, football field, bring a chair 

    • 5/26-Last day of school 

  • Cafeteria Charges:   You may make payments at family.titank12.com  You may apply for free/reduced meals at the same site.  

  • FREE tutoring: Google Meet sessions are on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 4:00-9:00 pm through May 4, 2023!  The  links are posted in your child’s homeroom Google Classroom.  These sessions are just for our SCM students.
