  • Good afternoon Sharks!  This is Principal Bridgers with your weekly announcements.

  • Sports Report:  Volleyball tryouts will start Monday after school for all grades, and last until 6pm. Girls should drop off their bags in the girls locker room.

  • A message from the Nurse about Energy Drinks:  In an effort to keep students healthy, please do not allow your students to drink energy drinks.  These drinks are not intended for children.  Per the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health, “Large amounts of caffeine may cause serious heart and blood vessel problems such as heart rhythm disturbances and increases in heart rate and blood pressure. Caffeine also may harm children’s still-developing cardiovascular and nervous systems. Caffeine may also influence anxiety, sleep problems, digestive problems, and dehydration. Also, a  single 16-oz. container of an energy drink may contain 54 to 62 grams of added sugar; this exceeds the maximum amount of added sugars recommended for an entire day."   Please contact our School Nurse, Crystal Bickta, or your child's health care provider with any questions.

  • Rising 7th Graders:  April 28th the Pender County Health Department will be holding an immunization clinic for rising 7th graders. Current 6th grade students will be able to receive their 7th grade immunizations which are the Meningococcal Vaccine and Tdap if needed during this clinic.  Permission slips will be going home the week of March 20th and are due back by April 14th if interested in participating.  Please contact our School Nurse, Crystal Bickta with any questions.

  • SCM Career Spotlight:  Be on the lookout for information about how to participate in our Career Spotlight!  We have so many talented parents and community members that we need to share with our students.  There will be a separate email with details this week.

  • Mobile Dental Clinic:  The mobile clinic will be on campus from 3/20-4/14.  Forms are in the nurse’s office.  Most insurances, including medicaid, are accepted.  This clinic is available for students, parents, and staff.

  • Reassignment Request:  If you would like for your student to attend a Pender County School other than the one they are zoned for (aside from Pender Early College), you will need to submit a reassignment request.  The application will open on  Wednesday, March 1st and close on Friday, March 31st.  The application can be found at https://penderncc.scriborder.com/  A quick reference guide to complete the application is attached.
