Thank you to the Wilmington Symphony Orchestra for inviting the Rocky Point Orchestra students to their children's concert yesterday! Everyone had an amazing time and learned all about French composer Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges!
Tomorrow's the Day! Join us during our Wit & Wisdom time to learn about what your student is reading in school! Parents are invited to join their student's class Monday, February 26th from 7:20-9:00am to participate in a Wit & Wisdom lesson and learn about the historical figure the class studied for Black History Month. From 9:00-10:00, classroom doors will be closed and parents are invited to walk around the school to learn about all of the important heroes highlighted on each classroom door.

We're celebrating "Read Across America" Week February 26th-March 1st, and we want everyone to show how much they LOVE reading! Here are our Spirit Week themes:
Mon: February 26: Partner Up & Read - dress up as a twin or western style
Tues: February 27: Knock Your Socks Off - wear crazy socks
Wed: February 28: Wacky Tacky Wednesday - dress wacky
Thurs: February 29: Wild About Reading - wear animal print or wild colors
Fri: March 1: Dress up as your favorite character or Cozy Up with a Good Book - dress up as your favorite book character or wear pajamas

It's creation time in the music room! Every grade level is working on composition and improvisation, because expressing yourself creatively through music is so important! Make sure your student shows you their special composition!
It's almost time for Class Picture Day! Class photos will be taken on the morning of Thursday, February 22nd. Please make sure your student is on time that day so they don't miss out! Order forms went home last week, but reach out to your student's teacher if you need a new one.

We want to give a huge SHOUT OUT to our Science Olympiad team! They represented RPE well, with one team placing 1st in their event and another placing 2nd in their event! Way to go, scientists!
The week of February 26, we will be celebrating Read Across America week since we will be on spring break during National Read Across America Week. To kick it off, we will have Partner Up & Read Monday on Monday, February 26th in which we are inviting parents to come from 7:20am-9:00am to read with our students, engage and learn with your child during their Wit & Wisdom lesson. From 9:00am to 10:00am, parents will be welcomed to travel our hallways and view the historical figures highlighted on classroom doors in honor of Black History month.

Lights, Camera, Action! Calling all Rams to showcase their special skills in our annual "Rams in the Spotlight" Talent Show! Applications are available now (ask your student's teacher or email Mrs. Black) and the show will be presented on April 18th. And don't forget that we accept talent videos for those talents that are too big for a stage!
Ms. Ridenour's class got a real sweet treat when retired pastry chef Frank Marchesano came in to teach the students how to frost and decorate pastries! Thank you, Mr. Marchesano!
A woodwind quintet from the NC Symphony came to serenade our Rocky Point Rams on Tuesday this week! The musicians talked about their instruments and what it's like being a professional musician. They even invited up music teacher Laura Black to narrate "Peter and the Wolf!"
