Good afternoon Rocky Point Families,
Thank you to all families who joined me this past Thursday to have open conversations of reflection and to provide input for the second semester. I sincerely appreciate the feedback as well as informal conversations regarding how to keep RPES moving forward. Heartfelt appreciation to everyone for helping us fill Mrs. Harrell’s week with love and kindness this past week during National School Counselor's Week. Thank you to all families for supporting our PTO and purchasing Valentine’s Grams. We will continue to sell them on Monday and Tuesday while supplies last. All Valentine’s Grams sold will be delivered to students and staff on Tuesday, February 14th - Valentine’s Day.
Tomorrow, Monday, February 13th, we will be celebrating our 100th day of school and having a little dress up fun. Students may come dressed in attire representing the number 100 or dressed as a 100 year old person.
Beginning tomorrow, Monday, February 13, the cafeteria will begin selling snacks again to students in all grade levels. Students may only purchase snacks during their FIRST time through the line when they purchase their initial lunch. This process will remain the same if a family member chooses to come eat with a student for lunch. According to Pender County, the student must have a zero balance with cash or check in hand or a positive balance to purchase snacks. If you do not want your child to buy snacks, it is your responsibility to contact the cafeteria manager, Ms. Mellaneese Simpson at mellaneese_simpson@pender.k12.nc.us, to inform her to place a block on your child's account. The cafeteria staff has been instructed to not accept money from students with a negative balance who intend to buy snacks.
This upcoming week February 13th - 17th is Love the Bus Week. Please help us show our bus drivers truly how much we appreciate them for the safe transportation of our students to and from school each day!
Also, this upcoming week we will be highlighting Pender County Schools Career and Technical Education Month Spirit Week. Every February, the CTE community celebrates CTE Month to raise awareness of the role that CTE has in readying learners for college and career success. CTE Month is also a time to recognize and celebrate the achievements and accomplishments of our CTE partners at the local, state and national level. This year, Mr. Bates would like to continue to raise awareness in Pender County. CTE teachers and staff really appreciated the participation during National Career Development month in November and we look forward to the participation for CTE month!

Read Across America Week is February 27th through March 3rd. Our goal is to have at least one guest reader in each classroom each day! Please reach out to your child’s teacher if you would like to volunteer to come read to the class one day during the week of February 27th.
As we highlight Black History month in the month of February, our quote for the week: “Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars, to change the world.”
By Harriet Tubman . Have a great week everyone!
