Good afternoon Rocky Point Families,
We are excited to welcome Ms. Riley Isom to our school staff as she will be our school social worker shared with Heide Trask High School. We are looking forward to having her on staff to help us help families in overcoming barriers as a means of increasing student attendance and student achievement.
This week there will be multiple things coming home with students. Please be on the lookout for the following items:
* Our Parent Teacher Organization will be selling holiday popcorn grams for $1.00 beginning Monday, December 5 through Friday, December 16. You may purchase these to send to your student or to their friends or teachers.
* If you would like to buy this year’s yearbook, yearbook pre-order purchase forms will be coming home this week. You may purchase one now during the early bird period for a discounted price of $20.00.
* In teaching our students about the spirit of giving during this holiday season, we will be participating in two community activities. We will be collecting donations for a local animal shelter as well as making holiday cards to give to The Laurels home in Burgaw. A flyer will be coming home this week about our animal shelter donation project as well as will is available below. If you are able to donate, we are asking for all donations to the animal shelter as well as all holiday cards made at home to be turned in to your child’s teacher by Friday, December 16th.

Looking ahead into the month of December, please mark your calendars for the following dates and activities:
Monday, December 12th - Friday, December 16th: Winter School Book Fair
Wednesday, December 14th: Winter Concerts for students in all grades
Students will have the opportunity to visit the book fair throughout the week of December 12th and our afterschool/caregiver event for the book fair will be Wednesday, December 14th from 5pm-8pm in conjunction with our winter concert. Families can shop before or after their student's performance!
The online book fair is already live, and can be accessed here! All items ship for free to the school at the end of the fair! This is a great way for friends and family to donate to your child’s classroom library.
Ms. Warrick, our media specialist, is still looking for volunteers and needs help for all shifts, including setup on Friday, December 9th, throughout the week of December 12th and during break down on Friday, December 16th. Please email her at sara_warrick@pender.k12.nc.us if you are interested in volunteering.
Also, during the week of December 12th, students will be completing a school perception survey. If you would like to see the questions on the perception survey, please contact Mrs. Perkins or Mrs. Harrell this week.
Our quote for the week: “The joy of brightening other lives becomes for us the magic of the holidays” by W.C. Jones. We look forward to seeing students tomorrow morning as we continue to strive to finish this first semester with great attendance, minimal tardies and days filled with impactful learning!
