Good afternoon Rocky Point Families,
I hope that each and every family has had a wonderful thanksgiving holiday. Thank you to all families who joined us to eat and learn with students this past Monday. We hope that you truly enjoyed yourselves and were able to see a glimpse of your student’s day. Additionally, a huge thank you to our cafeteria staff for their preparations to serve families as well as students on this occasion.
This past week, interim reports for quarter 2 were sent home with students. If you have any questions, please reach out to your child’s teacher. Additionally, this upcoming week, a letter will be coming home with all students on Wednesday, November 30th regarding our school designation of a Targeted Support & Improvement Additional Targeted Support (TSI-AT)/Consistently Underperforming Subgroups (TSI-CU) school by the North Carolina State Board of Education. As written in ESSA Section 1111(d)(2), North Carolina had to identify schools for targeted support and improvement. TSI-AT schools in North Carolina are those that have a subgroup that is not achieving at the rate of other students, which for Rocky Parent Elementary, it is in the subgroup area of students with disabilities.
For any student in grades 3-5 that would like to submit a Science Fair project outside of projects being worked on in the classroom will need to do so no later than Tuesday, November 29th. Please reach out to your child’s teacher if you have any questions.
Looking ahead into the month of December, please mark your calendars for the following dates and activities:
Monday, December 12th - Friday, December 16th: Winter School Book Fair
Wednesday, December 14th: Winter Concerts for students in all grades with a special time to visit the book fair
Our quote for the week: “Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings” by William Arthur Ward. We look forward to welcoming students back tomorrow morning as we strive to finish this first semester with great attendance, minimal tardies and days filled with impactful learning!
