Good afternoon Rocky Point Families,

A reminder that first nine weeks report cards were sent home with all students this past Thursday, October 27.  Thank you to all families that I have already seen coming to school and joining your child’s respective teachers for their beginning of year conference.  If you have not been able to do so, please connect with your child’s teacher to schedule yours soon in order to review your child’s BOY assessments and first quarter performance.

Tomorrow, students will be bringing home an opportunity for you to purchase raffle tickets to support our PTO.  The raffle tickets are $3.00 for one ticket or 2 for $5.00.  The tickets give you the opportunity to win an American girl doll, a Keurig, nice tupperware sets, or princess house cookware, which are all on display in our front office.  Therefore, you have 5 opportunities to win. The drawing will take place on November 10th.

Additionally, tomorrow, we invite students to dress up in one of three ways.  Students can dress up as their favorite book character, as what they would like to be when they grow up in honor of National Career Development month in November or in their Halloween costume as long as it does not impact learning.  No masks will be allowed and all attire must follow PCS dress code policies.

A reminder of fall picture make-ups on Tuesday, November 1st. If your child has already taken and received their picture from our original date, please note that picture money is due or please return unwanted pictures.

This upcoming week, 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students will be taking their North Carolina Check-In assessments for math and reading.  Math will be taken on Tuesday, November 1st and Reading will be taken on Thursday, November 3rd.  Please make sure students have had the opportunity to eat a good breakfast as well as a good night’s rest.  Please make sure students are on time for school as these assessments will begin promptly at 7:30am.

In honor of our veterans, we will be having a veterans day assembly on November 10th at 12:45pm in our school multipurpose room.  There will be short presentations and performances by students.  If you are a veteran, we would also love for you to send in a picture or email a picture of yourself to Mrs. Laura Black, our music teacher, at laura_black@pender.k12.nc.us by this upcoming Friday, November 4th.

Looking ahead on November 15th at 6:00pm, we will have an interactive session for families on the Community Resilience Model as we recognize that the last few years have been anything but easy for all of us.  All families are invited to attend and food will be provided.

Our quote for the week: “Do the best you can until you know better.  Then, when you know better, do better” by Maya Angelou.  As always, thank you for your continued support and we hope everyone has a great week!
