Good afternoon Rocky Point Families,
We hope that each of you had minimal damages and were able to stay safe as Hurricane Ian came through our area. Thank you for working with our teachers to ensure that your child completed their remote learning assignments as they were home on Friday. Please remember to have students that brought home chromebooks to return them back to school tomorrow as well as to bring completed paper assignments back to school tomorrow in order to get marked as present for our remote learning day on Friday.
One final reminder about Attractions books as our PTO still has 85 books not returned and accounted for. Thank you again for all of your support selling the Attractions books during the PTO’s recent fundraiser.
There will be a parent information session for families of AIG students in the Cape Fear Elementary School Media center on October 13th at 4:30pm. While this meeting is mostly for parents of newly identified students, all families of AIG students are invited. If you cannot attend and would like a copy of this presentation, please contact Mrs. Ellen Sidbury at ellen_sidbury@pender.k12.nc.us.
Looking ahead, please mark your calendars as we will be joining with Cape Fear Elementary, Cape Fear Middle and Heide Trask High School on Saturday, October 22, to celebrate Hispanic Heritage month. If your child would like to participate in a dance performance at this event, please bring them to Rocky Point Elementary School tomorrow, Monday, October 3 at 3:15 in the gymnasium. More information will be coming in next weekend’s update with regards to how you can contribute to this fundraising and celebratory event.
In honor of Hispanic American Heritage Month, I am sharing a quote from Raiza Mendoza: “The most wonderful thing about life is that you can always begin again. No matter what ups and downs you are handed in life today, you can always begin again tomorrow.” As always, thank you for your continued support and we hope everyone has a great week!
