Good afternoon Rocky Point Families,
The morning car line is moving more and more efficiently with each passing week. Thank you again to all families for having your child ready to exit the vehicle once you have passed the tall orange cone. Please be reminded that if you are choosing to park and walk your student up to the main door, you need to park in a legal parking spot in the first parking lot you arrive to on campus and use the first entrance, not the middle entrance. We realize we have an early start time of 7:20am, however it is important for us to teach bell to bell and we appreciate your diligence in making sure your students arrive on time ready to learn each day. With attendance in mind, while we want all students at school each day, if your child is not feeling well, please keep them home in order to help keep the spread of illnesses to a minimum in our school learning environment.
Reminder of our PTO’s Attractions Coupon Book fundraiser that is still taking place. The last day of the fundraiser is Monday, September 19th. Please return all unsold sample books to school as well as any orders sold tomorrow. If you have any questions, please contact April Shepard or Michelle Stone via email at Rockypointpto@gmail.com.
We have our fall school pictures this week on Tuesday, September 20. Additionally this week, we will have our Beginning of Year Curriculum Event and Annual Title 1 Parent Meeting for this upcoming year on Thursday, September 22. At this event, you will learn more about your child’s curriculum and your rights and responsibilities as stakeholders in a Title 1 School. Families will meet in the gym at 4:00pm to be introduced to all of our RPES staff and hear about Title 1 information followed by grade level rotations. There will be opportunities for parents to visit multiple children’s classrooms on a rotating basis during this event. We will provide snacks for families and hope that you all will plan to join us for this event.
In honor of Hispanic American Heritage Month, I am sharing a quote from Cesar Chavez: We need to help students and parents cherish and preserve the ethnic and cultural diversity that nourishes and strengthens this community - and this nation. As always, thank you for your continued support and we hope everyone has a great week!
