This week our First Grade students dove into hands-on learning experiences across math and science.
In math, students explored geometry by composing new shapes using triangles to build quadrilaterals, larger triangles, and hexagons. They also strengthened their understanding of place value by working together to count a large collection of popsicle sticks, organizing them into groups of ten—a fun and collaborative way to reinforce important number concepts.
In science, students practiced classification by sorting picture cards into meaningful categories. From identifying animals and plants to distinguishing between harmful and safe living things, students engaged in thoughtful discussions about the natural world. They even examined the habitats of living things, categorizing them based on whether they live on land, in the ocean, or both.
These interactive lessons continue to support student growth through creativity, critical thinking, and teamwork!
