Mrs. Romero

Rocky Point Elementary is extremely proud to recognize our 2024-2025 Teacher of the Year as Mrs. Alyssa Romero.

She is in her fifth year of teaching and she has been at Rocky Point for all of those five years. She started in a 2nd/3rd combination class which then became a virtual hybrid class at the tail end of COVID. She then looped up with the 2nd graders and accompanied them to 3rd grade the next year. She has been in 3rd grade ever since!

She continuously demonstrates her leadership skills by being the team lead for 3rd grade for the last two years. She also mentors new and experienced teachers and thus empowers them with new strategies and ideas for their classrooms.

One of the things she loves about teaching is seeing the students’ growth from the beginning of 3rd grade to the end. 3rd grade is such a big transition from 2nd grade, so to see the kids growing with leaps and bounds academically in addition to in their confidence increasing as they develop to becoming upper elementary student is an extremely meaningful achievement for Mrs. Romero.

She loves that she can build such strong relationships with the kids that the students will come back to spend time her when they are in 4th and 5th grade. She proudly watched her first group of students (whom she had for two years) graduate elementary school last year. These students will always have a special place in her heart. This year she will see her daughter and her class graduate. She feels it so precious watching all of the kids grow as well as feeling blessed that she can teach at her daughters’ school. She will soon be teaching her youngest daughter’s group.

She loves the tight knit community of Rocky Point and she especially love all of the relationships that not only her but the entire school builds with the students to nourish them as we watch them grow!

Congratulations to our Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Romero! Mrs. Romero
