During Speech and Occupational Therapy, Ms. Henri and Ms. Sarah incorporate hands-on learning and activities that promote communication skills, motor development as well as play and social skills and overall positive attitudes towards school. Through engaging exercises and individualized strategies, we help students improve their ability to express themselves, interact with peers, and participate fully in classroom activities. Their therapy approach is centered on fostering independence, building confidence, and creating a sense of accomplishment as students work toward their individual goals.
In the Exceptional Children’s math class this week, students are diving into the world of two-dimensional shapes, exploring their similarities, differences, attributes, and other key properties. For instance, they are learning that triangles have three straight sides and three angles, and that the sides can vary in length while the angles may differ as well. Students are even recognizing real-world examples, such as how a slice of pizza is shaped like a triangle. Additionally, they are practicing addition skills by making connections between various representations, such as objects or a number line. This hands-on approach to counting and adding objects helps solidify the concept of addition, directly linking numerals to their meaning.
Rocky Point’s commitment to personalized, engaging learning experiences is empowering our students to thrive and reach their full potential.
