Rocky Point’s teacher Julia Peters was recognized by Pender County Schools for being the January Beginning Teacher of the Month! This recognition is an honor and we are extremely proud to have her be recognized.
She is in her second year as a teacher at Rocky Point. She grew up in a small town in New York and came to North Carolina for college. She graduated UNCW with a degree in elementary education. Ms. Peters interned at Rocky Point and just fell in love with the school community. Her love of Rocky Point is due to the school fostering a positive and supportive learning environment, where everyone feels more like a family. She loves teaching fourth grade due to it being such a pivotal year for students. She makes meaningful relationships with her students while they engage with such a diverse curriculum. Students are gaining more independence and she loves helping them discover who they want to be in this world. Students feel emboldened to be courageous and take risks due to her solid and meaningful relationships, One student said “Ms. Peters is kind and caring. She helps make sure we understand what we are learning. She’s a great teacher."
