Our Rocky Point First Grade teachers are taking the Wit & Wisdom curriculum to the next level for our children! Students have been learning about the value of conducting research using multiple sources in Wit & Wisdom. The students were then able to carry that knowledge with them when First Grade conducted research throughout the week on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr in Social Studies.
Students learned that he was a great leader who effectively brought about change in a peaceful way. We learned that he was persistent and wanted equality for all people. After completing our research using multiple sources, students were then able to write about Dr. King and sort facts from opinions. Now we understand why we celebrate and remember Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on the third Monday of January each year!
