The Kindergarten team at RPES utilized pause points in their Wit and Wisdom curriculum to provide "hands-on" learning experiences in between learning modules that provided background knowledge and multi modal experiences in between learning modules.
To culminate student learning about the theme of Once Upon a Farm, students used the Adobe Express program to record stories that they created about farm animals. District Learning Specialist, Mrs. Kayla Davidson, spent two days with the kindergarteners to help them learn how to use this program and helped with their recordings. The children used storyboards to plot out their farm stories before recording.
Before beginning the next learning module of America, Then and Now, our Rams experienced what life was like in the past as they rotated through stations held in each of the three classrooms. They learned about communication in the past with a string phone activity. Next, students tried to write their names with feathers and ink to mimic the past use of quills. In addition, our students also learned about past food preparation by making butter.
