ROCKY POINT, NC - Laura Black, a music educator at Rocky Point Elementary School, has been named a finalist for the 2024 North Carolina Symphony’s Music Educator Awards.

Black is one of just six finalists selected from across the state for this year’s honor, which recognizes exceptional music educators who inspire the next generation of musicians and music lovers. Each year, the NC Symphony selects three educators for the award, highlighting their dedication to fostering a lifelong appreciation for music among their students.

“This recognition is a testament to Ms. Black’s passion for teaching and her commitment to creating an engaging and inclusive environment where students can explore their love for music,” said Dr. Brad Breedlove, Superintendent of Pender County Schools.

Through her work at Rocky Point Elementary, Black has touched the lives of countless students, instilling not only technical music skills but also a deeper understanding of music as an art form.

The winners of the 2024 NC Symphony Music Educator Awards will be announced at a later date.
