As the 2024-2025 school year approaches, Pender County Schools reminds families to ensure their child's immunizations are up-to-date in accordance with North Carolina state regulations.
Immunizations are essential for protecting the health and safety of our students and the broader school community. It is important for parents to be aware of the specific immunization requirements set by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services as they prepare for the new school year.
Vaccinations are mandatory for all students unless they have a documented religious or medical exemption. Although North Carolina law permits two types of exemptions (see below) from required immunizations, it is essential for families to understand the importance of vaccinations in ensuring a healthy school environment.
Parents of children entering kindergarten, seventh grade, or new to the district are urged to review their child’s immunization records and arrange for any necessary vaccinations promptly.
For those who have already received the required immunizations, please ensure that updated records are provided to the school’s health office before the school year begins. Failure to meet immunization requirements shall result in exclusion from school until the necessary vaccinations are completed. Pender County Schools is committed to a smooth and healthy start to the school year for all students, and we greatly appreciate your cooperation.
For your convenience, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services provides a comprehensive guide to immunization requirements.
Parents with questions or concerns about immunizations are encouraged to contact the school nurse or the health services department. Open communication is vital to ensure all families are well-informed and prepared for a safe and successful school year.
