Rocky Point, NC - Excitement filled the halls of Rocky Point Elementary as the esteemed Azalea Festival made a special visit to the school on Thursday, April 4th. This cherished tradition brought Azalea Queen, Sharon Lawrence, Miss North Carolina, the Queen’s Court and Keydets, Invited Guests, and other officials from the festival right into the heart of our community.
The visit, a highlight of Festival week, was eagerly awaited by students, teachers, administrators, and parents alike. Throughout the year, the school community had been diligently preparing for this magical event, and their efforts truly paid off as they welcomed their esteemed guests with open arms and students made lasting impressions with their performances.
Although the School Visit was a closed event for space and safety reasons, the spirit of the Azalea Festival radiated within the school walls. Students were delighted to meet the Azalea Queen and her court, and the atmosphere was filled with joy and excitement.
In addition to the festivities, the North Carolina Association of Colleges and Employers generously organized a book drive for the students at Rocky Point Elementary. This thoughtful gesture provided an opportunity for members of the community to contribute to the students' educational journey by purchasing books from their Amazon Wish List.
The visit left a lasting impression on all involved, underscoring the strong sense of community and collaboration that defines Rocky Point Elementary. As the Azalea Festival Queen bid farewell to the students, she left behind a legacy of warmth, inspiration, and the spirit of giving.
